ACTOR BIO
Daniel Reininghaus is a graduate of the Toronto Film School with an Honours Diploma in acting for FILM & TV. He is one of the most dedicated young emerging actors in the Toronto independent film scene and has ambitions of being a leading man in feature films. His first commercial break was an appearance on the TV series Urban Legends on the History Channel. His film debut was playing Morpheus (actor) in a comedy spoof of the Matrix called Phaytrix.
Most recently, Jenny Lewis & Sara Kay brought Daniel in to audition for the Lead role of Maury in the union feature film named ‘The Toilet’. Also, casting director Millie Tom brought Daniel in to read for the Lead role for a pilot series for the ABC Network called ‘Happy Town’.
Daniel landed his first role (supporting) in an independent feature film ‘Waiting for Summer’ by Senthil Vinhu, which has been submitted to the Toronto International Film Festival. This was an amazing experience and was invaluable to his development as an actor.
Daniel also participated in the WILDsound Reading Series and was given the opportunity of playing 3 different characters. Daniel received a personal podcast interview from the founder of WILDsound, Matthew Toffolo because he was impressed Daniel’s dedication and professionalism.
Over the past 8 months, Daniel has acted in 9 independent shorts, playing a range of different characters from quirky to dark. In ‘The Prophet’, a dark drama, where Daniel plays a homeless man (lead) with psychic abilities. Daniel plays a completely opposite character in the comedy, ‘Chaos for Hire’ where he portrays a quirky, delusional geek (lead). In the film drama, ‘Yakim’ he plays a condescending French salesmen (principal) at a jewelry store. The film was accepted into Air Canada’s enRoute Film Festival.
Daniel wrote/directed/produced and starred in his first short film called Eyes Beyond. He attracted a professional cast and crew.
Furthermore, Daniel participated in the Actor’s Symposium, where he was seen in front of casting directors Ron Leach, Brian Levy, Crystal Kramer, Steven Mann & Juli-Ann Kay and they were all impressed with his performance.
On his spare time, he enjoys hanging out with his girlfriend and runs an online indie film community called Spotlight Nation to help artists connect through the process of independent filmmaking.
